We love Kids Can Draw! My daughters have been coming to Laurie and Kids Can Draw since 2003 when my oldest daughter turned 7. She continued to take lessons until she left for college in 2013 and even now she makes a point to stop in and say hello when she's home visiting. My youngest daughter also started her lessons at 7 and now at 16, is still taking them. My girls have always enjoyed going to art class and have even missed birthday parties and sleepovers because they "didn't want to miss art class".
As parents, we love Laurie and Kids Can Draw too! The fact that Kids Can Draw is for kids is so important to us. It's a place my kids feel safe and where they have made many friends.
Laurie is so great with the kids and you can just see how much she loves teaching art from the first time you meet her. She is warm, friendly, and so funny! Her teaching style keeps the kids interested. Once the basics are learned, they can paint/draw what they want, in the medium of their choosing vs. her telling them what they have to do. My oldest likes to paint and my youngest likes to draw and that's not a problem! They can both be in the same class, at their own "level", going at their own pace.
We are grateful to Laurie for being a mentor to my oldest daughter who is now studying Graphic Design in college. She helped her with her portfolio and even wrote a letter of recommendation for her college application. Although my youngest daughter doesn't plan to have a career in art, she still loves coming to class and we love her work. She's still learning different techniques and loves to do specialty classes like Art Journaling and advanced courses like manga and portraits.
We have recommended Kids Can Draw and everyone that has tried it has stayed. Thank you Laurie, Michelle, and Andy!
